Trita Parsi, founder of the National Iranian American Council has stepped down. Many who have followed Parsi and NIAC’s activities, since it’s founding in 2002, have been aware of the organization and its founders’ mission to normalize relations between Washington and the Khomeiniist regime.
Though for many years, Trita, NIAC’s board of trustees and staff, as well as NIAC’s international media and think tank allies denied those claims, it finally became clear when Trita’s photos emerged in Geneva alongside Tehran’s nuclear negotiation team, headed by Javad Zarif, foreign minister of the Islamic regime.
Over recent years, several articles have provided in-depth and detailed analysis on the nature of this organization’s activities and fully explains Parsi and his network’s duties on behalf of the Khomeiniist regime. Parsi and various members of NIAC’s close ties to the Obama White House, State Department and NSC have also been revealed to have been one of the main contact points between Tehran and Washington during the Obama administration.
The article entitled The Shady Family Behind America’s Iran Lobby, was written by Alex Shirazi and published in the Daily Beast in September 2015. More recently another article entitled How Trita Parsi and NIAC Used the White House to Advance Iran’s Agenda, written by Hassan Dai was published in Tablet magazine, in June 2017.
Today, Parsi announced, on the NIAC website, that he was leaving and that he was passing the torch to long time NIAC staff member, Jamal Abdi. However rumors do persist that due to the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA, Trita has been jettisoned by the powers that be in Tehran. There are also allegations that some, in the intelligence community have finally begun to see Parsi and NIAC’s objectives for what they are and investigations are said to be underway.
